Some visits stay with you long after you have left, and our time with 9 SAI Battalion in the Western Cape was one of them.

We arrived while the battalion was in the middle of a busy Sports Day, yet the men and women of 9 SAI still took the time to welcome us.

In a place known for discipline, structure and service, we also experienced genuine warmth and generosity. What stood out most was not only their commitment to their duties, but the way they made us feel valued.

Their encouragement reminded us that meaningful connections are often made in simple moments, through a conversation, a warm welcome or someone choosing to make time for you despite a demanding schedule.

As we continue travelling across South Africa, we carry these moments with us.

Our visit to 9 SAI Battalion reminded us that strength is not only found in physical endurance or discipline.

It is also found in unity, kindness and supporting the work of others.

We left feeling humbled by their service, inspired by their dedication and grateful for the way they received us.
